Inclusive Curriculum & Support

Schools have a moral and legal responsibility to provide equitable education opportunities for all students.

“Education providers, including class teachers, must take reasonable steps to ensure a course/program is designed to allow any student to participate and experience success in learning” (DSE Section 6)

The concept of high expectations for each student is based on the belief that every student is capable of experiencing successful learning and positive outcomes.

Differentiation is the use of teaching practices that give each learner many opportunities to experience success and a sense of achievement. In essence, differentiation means adjusting a lesson, or parts of a lesson for one, some or all the learners.  At St Mary’s, each year level has a designated Education Support Office working with the teacher to support the different learning styles and needs of the students in their class. Additional support officers are allocated to students who meet the criteria for specific learning support.  Each cohort also has an Inclusive Curriculum teacher that oversees the different needs of the students and supports the classroom teacher with specific teaching and learning.
